Gill Robson

Gill RobsonGill Robson is the Operations Manager for Pharmacy Production Services, based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne, where technical and support staff provide a trust-wide chemotherapy service as well as parenteral nutrition, CIVAS, non-sterile, terminally sterilised and aseptically manufactured products. She is also responsible for a satellite unit at the Northern Centre for Cancer Treatment at Newcastle General Hospital which provides chemotherapy for the regional centre.

Gill began her career in pharmacy in 1986 as a student technician at South Tyneside District Hospital, where she qualified in 1988. She moved in 1993 to Berkshire, where she specialised in the provision of cytotoxics and set up a reconstitution service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. A move to the Oxford Radcliffe NHS Trust in 1997, as Operations Manager, allowed her to run a larger unit providing chemotherapy, centralised intravenous additive services and total parenteral nutrition. She returned to her native North East in 1998 to take up her current post.

Gill’s role encompasses all production-related activities, and her particular areas of interest include safe handling of cytotoxics, training and education, health surveillance and quality assurance issues such as error monitoring and incident reporting. She is an active member of BOPA and the International Society of Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners.
